To provide a geothermal heat exchanger heat exchange efficiency of which can be restrained from degrading without separately arranging heat insulating material.
A geothermal heat exchanger 10 is embedded underground and used, and includes circulating water piping 30 comprising an outgoing pipe 31 causing circulating water to flow from a pile head side of a steel pipe pile 11 to a pile tip side, a return pipe 32 causing the circulating water reaching the pile tip side through the outgoing pipe 31 to flow to the pile head side from the pile tip side, and a return part 33 for connecting the outgoing pipe 31 to the return pipe 32 at a deep underground part. The return pipe 32 has a section 32a on the pile head side located in a range of the preset depth from the ground surface, and a section 32b on the pile tip side located in the range from a lower end of the section 32a of the pile head side to the deep underground part. The inside diameter of the section 32a on the pile head side is equal to an inside diameter of the section 32b on the pile tip side, and an outside diameter of the section 32a on the pile head side is larger than an outside diameter of the section 32b on the pile tip side.
