To obtain gigged knitted fabric which comprises the gigged and interlaced fabric part formed by gigging polyester yarns having a modified cross section and the ground weaving part having stretching yarns of light weight and voluminous feeling, and is suitable for sheep-like cold weather clothing with light weight, voluminous feeling, soft fabric hand and light appearance.

Polyester yarns of modified cross section with a filament thickness of 1.0-1.8de and a modification degree of ≥1.2 are gigged and the ground yarns having stretch yarns, for example, woolly textured yarns of polyester or polyamide or urethane elastic yarns and containing non-stretching yarns of polyester or polyamide places these gigged yarns between them so that the sigged yarns are exposed to both front and the back fabric surfaces whereby a circular knitted fabric of a sinker-pile type. This knitted fabric is dyed, gigged on its needle loop side, then on the sinker loop side to give a gigged knitted fabric in which the gigged yarn-interlacing part (A) amounts 20-60% and the ground weave part (C) comprises more than 40wt.% of stretching yarn.
