PURPOSE: To clear a rear visual field so as to be matched with that on the outside of the vehicle by changing timing for executing glare shielding work in accordance with weather.
CONSTITUTION: If light radiated from the back of the vehicle is increased due to the head light or the like of the following vehicle, a photodiode 41 detects the light. Thereby, the detecting voltage of the photodiode 41 is reduced lower than a reference voltage divided by resistors 43, 44 and the output of a comparator 46 is turned to the high level. Both the outputs of a forward light detecting circuit 5 and a backward light detecting circuit 4 are turned to the high levels, so that the output of an AND circuit 6 is turned to the high level and an exclusive OR circuit 8 outputs an oscillation signals obtained by inverting the phase of an oscillation signal outputted from an oscillation circuit 7. Consequently, a voltage is impressed upon a liquid crystal panel 100, its transmissivity is reduced and a room mirror 101 is turned to the flare shielding status.
