Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain glass ceramic biomaterial having an excellent mechanical strength and toughness by selecting a glass ceramic biomaterial having each specific physical and structural characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: The glass ceramic biomaterial has a flexural strength of greater than 172 Mpa and a toughness of greater than 2.5 Mpa.m1/2 as physical characteristics and a primary crystal phase of F-canasite, a secondary crystal phase of F-apatite and a remained glassy phase as structural characteristics wherein the crystalline phase structure contains a blade combining with F- canasite and at least a part of F-apatite is included in the blade.
