To provide a glass ceramic whose surface is excellent in durability and which has a crystal phase of one or more titanium oxides selected from the group consisting of an anatase type, a rutile type and a brookite type or an inorganic titanium phosphate compound, a method for producing the same and a photocatalytic functional member and a hydrophilic member, containing the glass ceramic.
The glass ceramic includes RnTi2(PO4)3, RTi4(PO4)6 or any of these solid solutions and TiO2, preferably one or more TiO2 crystals selected from the group consisting of the anatase type, the rutile type and the brookite type, as the crystal phase, and has photocatalytic characteristics based on these crystals. The glass ceramic is produced by the method having a step to obtain a glass melt or glass by mixing and melting raw materials and a crystallizing step to hold the melt or the glass at a temperature to generate and grow crystal nuclei.
