To provide a normal temperature glass coating agent which can be applied to the surface of a metal such as stainless steel at a so-called normal temperature of 200°C or less to thereby easily obtain the metal excellent in weather resistance, antifouling property, and flame retardancy.
The normal temperature glass coating agent contains boron ions and halogen ions as a catalyst required for making oxides and is composed of a single composition or a composite composition of a hydrolyzable organometallic compound dissolved in an alcohol. When the glass coating agent is applied to the surface of a metal plate, it can be dried at a so-called normal temperature of 200°C or less, and the metal surface can be made excellent in weather resistance, antifouling property, and flame retardancy.
