PURPOSE: To obtain glass for a dosimeter capable of shortening difference of sensitivity between manufacturing lots by constituting glass for the dosimeter so that metal for absorbing ultraviolet rays is incorporated into the component thereof and the content of this metal is controlled in coincidence with sensitivity.
CONSTITUTION: Base glass is manufactured which incorporates by wt.% 30-70 aluminum metaphosphate, 20-70 one or more kinds of alkali phosphate and 0.1-10 silver metaphosphate as the essential components and incorporates ≤40 one or more kinds of metaphosphate such as magnesium metaphosphate and ≤20 one or more kinds selected from among boric acid, silica and alumina. 1-500ppm metal (e.g. high purity Fe2O3) for absorbing ultraviolet rays is incorporated into the components of glass for 100wt.% molten base glass. As a result, fluorescent sensitivity of glass for a dosimeter is controlled within a prescribed range and difference of sensitivity between manufacturing lots is shortened. Therefore reliability of measurement of radiation dose is enhanced.
