Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass-fiber-reinforced crystalline resin compsn. which gives a molded item excellent in surface properties, strengths, and stiffness by compounding a crystalline resin with glass fibers pretreated with a specific binder.
SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. (solid basis) binder contg. 1-90wt.% water-base polyurethane resin, a surface treatment, a lubricant, an antistatic agent, a pH adjuster, water, etc., is compounded with 0.5-20 pts.wt. metal salt of an org. phosphoric ester represented by formula I or II (wherein R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R2 is H or 1-12C alkyl; M1 and M2 are each an alkali or alkaline earth metal atom or a zinc atom; provided when M1 and M2 are both an alkali metal atom, then p and q are both 1 and when M1 and M2 are both an alkaline earth metal atom, then p and q are both 2). The obtd. binder in an amt. of 0.05-10 pts.wt. is attached to 100 pts.wt. fibers having a length of 0.5-10mm and a diameter of 1-50μm. The treated fibers in an amt. of 1-50wt.% is compounded with 50-95wt.% crystalline resin.
