To provide a glass melting furnace in which glass mixed with a liquid to be treated is stably taken out without being affected by the concentration of a platinum group element in the glass on the bottom of a melting furnace main body, a furnace bottom low temperature operation complicated and requiring labor and time is dispensed with, the furnace is restored even when the glass containing the high concentration platinum group element becomes blocked on the bottom of the melting furnace main body and the reliability is improved.
A funnel like platinum group element retaining part 15 for retaining a sedimented platinum group element is formed direct above a flow-down nozzle 12 in the bottom of the melting furnace main body 4, A high frequency induction heating coil 16 is provided on the outer periphery of the platinum group element retaining part 15 and a strainer 14 for receiving dropout refractory waste is arranged on the upper part of the platinum group element 15 to be detachable by a remote operation.
