Title:
GLASS PIPE HEATING FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5527855
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To save the heat source consumption of a glass pipe heating furnace and to reduce cost by arranging two or more lines of inclined stretched belts, at least two conveyors, a plurality of gas burners, etc. in the furnace.

CONSTITUTION: The furnace for heating glass pipes 1 of circular section consists of exhaust port 13, a plurality of gas burners 9, upper and lower furnace chambers 8, 10, side furnace chambers 12, etc. Two or more lines of stainless steel belts 5 are arranged in the furnace and stretched by fixing one end to fixed terminal 3 and connecting the other end to weight 4. Belts 5 are inclined by an angle of θ (5°) so that pipes 1 roll naturally. Pipes 1 are guided and conveyed with pins 7 of at least two chain conveyors 6 protruded into each gap between belts 5. Pipes 1 are uniformly heated with burners 9. Since the furnace is opened at the pipe inlet and outlet along, heat radiation is minimized. Thin belts are used in place of conventional rods, thereby resulting in reduced heat loss and equipment cost.
