Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform gamma-correction for preventing deterioration or breakage of an element caused by an overcurrent by applying a voltage to a surface conductive type emission element through a non-linear element.
SOLUTION: Surface conductive type emission elements are matrix-wired at positions of D(1, 1), D(1, 2),..., D(6, 6) in X, Y coordinates for discriminating the respective emission elements. In displaying an image by driving this multi- electron beam source, the image is formed in the order of lines by the unit of each line in the image parallel to the X-axis. In driving the electron emission elements corresponding to each line in the image, 0V is applied to a terminal of a row corresponding to the displayed line among Dx1-Dx6, and 7V is applied to other terminals. Synchronously with this, modulation signals are applied to terminals of Dy1-Dy6 in accordance with an image pattern of the line.
