Title:
GLAZING OF POTTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2953610
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pottery having a relief pattern of beautiful appearance and high in grace by forming a thin glaze layer on the relief surface of a base material in such a thickness as leaving the depressions of the relief surface and subsequently preliminarily forming a graze-repelling layer for repelling a glaze slurry on the surface.
SOLUTION: A molded base material having a relief surface formed thereon is dried and subsequently subjected to an oxidative calcination treatment at 800-900°C. A thin glaze layer is formed on the relief surface to cover the relief surface. The thickness of the thin glaze layer is controlled in such a thickness as leaving the depressions of the relief surface. When the dimensions the depressions are 0.2-1.0mm, the thickness of the thin glaze layer is 0.03-0.20mm. The glaze-repelling layer is a layer for repelling a glaze slurry and is produced from e.g. solid paraffin. The glaze used for a glaze slurry for forming the thin glaze layer is the same as that used for a glaze slurry for the base material except the relief surface. In the figure, a base material 1 has a relief surface 1R and a flat surface 15. A graze-repelling layer 4 is filled so as to cover most of the thin glaze layer 2 having the depressions disposed thereon. In the state, the base material is immersed in a glaze slurry to form a glaze slurry layer 5.
