To improve fuel efficiency and rapid temperature rising performance and to save electric power.
A glow plug 1 includes a cylindrical housing 2 having a shaft hole 4 extending in the direction of axis CL1, a heater member 3 inserted into the shaft hole 4 while projecting from a tip of the housing 2 at least at its tip end, and a rod-shaped center shaft 11 extending in the direction of axis CL1, and inserted into the shaft hole 4 to configure a power distribution path to the heater member 3. The center shaft 11 has a hollow section 20 extending along the direction of axis CL1 inside thereof.
