Title:
GLUCOSE DERIVATIVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3704173
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel glucose derivative which is useful in research on saccharometabolism and saccharide transport system in mammalian cells, particularly on the transporter of glucose in cell membrane by bonding iodine through a vinyl group to the hydroxyl in 2-position of glucose.
CONSTITUTION: A novel glucose derivative is expressed by formula I (n is an integer of 1-4; I is non-radioactive iodine atom or a radioactive iodine atom of I-123, I-125 or I-131), for example, 2-O-iodized propenyl-D-glucopyranose), which is useful for research on saccharometabolism and saccharide transportation in mammalian cells, particularly on the transporter present in cell membrane. This compound is obtained by dissolving 1-O-methyl 4,6-O- benzylidene-α-D-glucopyranoside in DMF, allowing the pyranoside to react with propargyl iodide in the presence of NaH into the monopropargyl derivative of formula II, effecting the reaction of the monopropargyl derivative with tri-n- butyltin bromide to give an intermediate of formula III followed by reaction of the intermediate with iodine.
