To provide a method for producing glucose by a mild enzyme-using saccharification method, from cellulose obtained by a high delignification technique.
This method for producing the glucose useful as a raw material for ethanol fermentation comprises crushing wood-based biomasses including wastes into fine particles having a particle diameter of ≤1 mm, selectively degrading lignin with hydrogen peroxide solution containing a fine amount of a tungstate or molybdate catalyst, and then efficiently saccharifying the obtained wood-based cellulose with a cellulase enzyme. The cellulase enzyme in the saccharification process and glucose separation by the ultrafiltration membrane provide the high efficient glucose production method enabling the deactivation-avoiding long period employment of the enzyme. The method solves the problem that a method for obtaining highly pure glucose used as a raw material for ethanol fermentation from wood-based biomasses has not been established, although it has been demanded to obtain the biomass ethanol by the saccharification (glucose production) of wood-based biomasses including building waste woods, thinnings and waste paper.
