PURPOSE: To obtain a glue plant having favorable performance as food additive by liquefying, pulverizing or granulating a glue plant, and to establish a usage for this glue plant to be added to various foods.

CONSTITUTION: This glue plant as food additive is obtained by liquefying, pulverizing or granulating a dried product prepared by washing raw glue plant algae with water followed by bleaching and drying. The other objective usage of this glue plant as food additive is such that, when this glue plant is to be added at 0.01-10wt.% on a solid basis to a food, fish meat or vegetable prior to cooking is sprinkled or mixed therewith and then blended with a dough of confectionery or bread followed by making a cooking.
