Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gold cluster catalyst capable of promoting/controlling a chemical reaction with high catalytic activity and selectivity, and to provide a production method of the gold cluster catalyst.SOLUTION: The gold cluster catalyst is obtained by depositing a plurality of gold cluster compounds, each of which is stabilized by an organic ligand and has gold atoms of a predetermined atomic number, on a carrier and post-treating the gold cluster compound-deposited carrier, in other words, by depositing a cluster, which is obtained by assembling a plurality of gold atoms, on the carrier. The particle diameter of the cluster is 10 nm or smaller. The cluster almost consists of only the gold atoms. The number of the gold atoms is selected from 11, 55, and 101. The gold cluster catalyst is used as a hydrogenation catalyst of oxygen atom-containing organic compounds. The carrier of the gold cluster catalyst consists preferably of ceria or zirconia.SELECTED DRAWING: None
