To obtain a composition for a golf ball capable of optimizing a large number of performance characteristics without reducing other characteristics.
The golf ball contains an ethylene-vinyl acetate polymer or an ethylene-vinyl acetate/acid terpolymer having specific physical properties, a crosslinking agent, a co-crosslinking agent, a crosslinking promoter, or a composition containing a mixture thereof. The composition can contain an additional mixed polymer. The golf ball provides flexibility in design of the golf ball for improving ball performance such as a hitting feeling or a spin amount without exerting undesirable influence on shear resistance of the ball. A method for manufacturing the golf ball includes: a step for incorporating the ethylene-vinyl acetate polymer or the ethylene-vinyl acetate/acid terpolymer, or a mixture thereof, and the crosslinking agent, the co-crosslinking agent, the crosslinking promoter, or a composition comprising a mixture thereof; and a step or the like for making the golf ball contain the composition.
