Title:
GOLF BALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06218076
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve drag-characteristics of a golf ball by placing the dimples of a golf ball according to the pattern which is formed by a hypothetical grid lines and by dividing the outside globular surface into truncated globular octahedrons having a specific number of globular square regions and a specific number of globular hexahedron regions. CONSTITUTION: The outer globular surface 12 of a golf ball 10 is divided at a hypothetical grid lines 14 into truncated globular octahedrons consisting of six globular square regions 16 and eight hexahedron regions 18. The two globular square regions are positioned at the polar part of the outer globular surface 12 and the four globular square regions are positioned on the equator part. The globular square regions 16 are surrounded by four globular hexahedron regions 18 and the globular hexahedron regions 18 are surrounded by three globular square regions 16 and three globular hexahedron regions 18. It is to be arranged so that, among the globular hexahedron regions 18, every other side BC, DE, FA out of a hexahedron H crosses with two of the dimples 32 in the radial direction and that the diagonal lines AD, BE, CF cross with six dimples 32, 34 in the radial direction.
