To provide an iron head which enables a golf ball to be easily hit by improving ball-hitting feeling without excessively increasing the weight of the iron head.

The surrounding part of the back side of a face part is formed of a thick part LT extending over a top part inclining upwardly obliquely, a toe part TU, a sole part and a heel part HL. In a face wall part FH surrounded by the thick part, the thickness of a center region Z2 including a sweet spot is larger than the thickness of a toe side region Z3 adjacent to one side of the center region and larger than the thickness of a heel side region Z1 adjacent to the other side when measuring the thickness of a center region Z2 on a line parallel to a contact plane PL contacting with a center point in the longitudinal direction of the top surface of a top part. In each of the heel side region, the center region and the toe side region, the thickness is increased gradually and smoothly from a top part toward a sole in a direction vertical to the contact plane. In the toe side region and the heel side region, the thicknesses of the respective top side edge parts FHF are equal to each other, and the increase ratios of thickening are also equal to each other.
