To design a golf club shaft taking a swing characteristic of an object golfer into consideration.
A 6-axis sensor for detecting acceleration of 3-axes and angle speed of 3 axes is attached to a shaft. The club shaft designing device includes: a measurement data acquisition means for acquiring outputted data of the 6-axis sensor as measurement data when a plurality of golf clubs with shafts having different known design factor data are used for trial hitting; a response curve face calculation part for calculating a swing response curve face wherein skill of a trial hitter is functionalized from respective measurement data of the plurality of golf clubs; an optimization processing part for giving motion of a golf club grips acquired by swing response curve plane as displacement data to optimize the design factor data by analyzing motion of the golf club head while varying the design factor data, and specifying the design factor data when the acquired motion of the golf club head satisfies a prescribed objective function; and a design data outputting means for outputting the optimized design factor data.
