PURPOSE: To improve a vibration absorbing ability when hitting a ball by producing a fiber reinforced resin material from a compound prepreg which is composed of a carbon fiber prepreg and a polyparaphenylenebenzobisoxazole fiber prepreg when producing a golf club shaft from a fiber reinforced resin material.
CONSTITUTION: In a shaft body 1 of a golf club shaft, a bias layer 2 consisting of layers 2a to 2f is formed as the inner most layer, on which a reinforced layer 3 consisting of layers 3a to 3c whose fiber orientation angle is parallel to the shaft is formed, and on this layer, a straight layer 4 consisting of layers 4a to 4c whose fiber orientation angle is parallel to the shaft is formed. A compound prepreg which is composed of a carbon fiber prepreg and a polyparaphenylenebenzobisoxazole fiber prepreg (PBO fiber prepreg) is used as a fiber reinforced resin material composing the shaft body 1. The shaft body 1 is made of a prepreg in which a carbon fiber and a PBO fiber are oriented on the same plane.
