PURPOSE: To provide a golf club shaft which has a good torsion preventive property, enables the use of high-elasticity fibers, has good rigidity and is controllable in rigidity.

CONSTITUTION: This golf club shaft has a torsion preventive layer which is wound with reinforcing fibers diagonally in the longitudinal direction of the shaft and a strength retaining layer 2 formed by doubling the reinforcing fibers formed on this torsion preventive layer parallel with the longitudinal direction of the shaft. The torsion preventive layer is a resin layer 4 wound with the reinforcing fibers impregnated with a resin and the strength retaining layer 2 is a resin layer wound and cured with prepregs formed by doubling the reinforcing fibers in the longitudinal direction of the shaft.
