Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a VGD mechanism of a centrifugal compressor enabling more proper and more efficient turndown of a compressor, and reducing necessity of bypassing of a gas of significantly high temperature in an operation of low cooling capacity.SOLUTION: In a variable geometry diffuser 810 in which an actuator is so constituted as to move a diffuser ring 830 from a reversible retraction position to a reversible extended position in a diffuser gap 134, the actuator is so constituted as to be operated in a quick mode for enabling quick movement of the diffuser ring 830 to a completely-extended position, and at the completely-extended position, the diffuser gap 134 is sufficiently restricted so as to enable capacity control and/or start management and/or stop management without using a blade, in particular, without using a pre-swirled blade.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
