To increase an interval adjustment width between two transfer units.SOLUTION: An article transfer device 50 includes: a first transfer unit 52A that applies a force for transferring the article between article support units 24, 26; a second transfer unit 52B that applies a force for transferring the article between the article support units 24, 26; a first placing plate 60A that is adjacent to the first transfer unit 52A and extends toward the second transfer unit 52B; a second placing plate 60B that is adjacent to the second transfer unit 52B and extends toward the first transfer unit 52A; and an interval adjustment mechanism that moves at least one of the first transfer unit 52A and the second transfer unit 52B closer to or away from the other between a state in which a leading end of the first placing plate 60A and a leading end of the second placing plate 60B are separate from each other and a state in which a placing surface 60Af of the first placing plate 60A and a placing surface 60Bf of the second placing plate 60B overlap.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
