To provide an article carrying device capable of moving a traveling body while detecting the traveling position of the traveling body as well as making a reflection body compact.

Light projection/reception means 21 is configured to project distance measuring lights toward a center part of a reflection body 22. Light projection/reception means 23 for correction, which is arranged at a different position from the light projection/reception means 21 in a direction orthogonal to a traveling path, projects the lights toward the reflection body 22 so that the lights are parallel to the distance measuring lights projected by the light projection/reception means 21, and receives the lights reflected by the reflection body 22 is provided. Light projecting direction change control means, which controls an actuation of light projecting direction change means so that a distance measuring light projection direction and a correcting light projection direction are changed to a direction opposite to the side, on which the light projection/reception means 23 is positioned, in an aligning manner of the light projection/reception means 21 and the light projection/reception means 23 for correction in a direction orthogonal to the traveling path, when it is determined that the light projection/reception means 23 for correction does not receive the lights reflected by the reflection body 22.
