To provide goumi candies containing tannin-containing food product of which the surfaces do not dissolve, and not become wet or tacky.
This candy composition of goumi (fruits of a tree, Elaeagnus multiflora) contains 0.2-1.0 wt.% of pectin on the solid basis. The tannin- containing food product means tea leaves or tea leaf extract. In one embodiment, the goumi candies is produced, for example, by adding powdery sugar to liquid sugar, and concentrating the mixture with heat to the BX sugar content of about 80. Then, tea leaves or tea extract, juice and flavors are formulated to the sugar concentrate in desired amounts and dissolved. Separately, a gelatin solution is prepared by dissolving gelatin in hot water. In addition, pectin solution is prepared by dissolving it in hot water. The pectin solution, gelatin solution are added to the sugar liquid in order, they are concentrated by boiling down until the BX sugar content attains 78-80, cast into a mold made of corn starch and solidified in a cool and dark place.
