To improve the accuracy of a governor and to correctly move a metering rack and to improve the sensitivity of the governor by sandwiching a metering rank between a governor lever output portion and a slider output portion which are disposed on both sides thereof by a spring force and a governor force.

Of both end portions 6b, 6c of a metering rack 6a of a fuel injection pump 6, a governor lever output portion 3a is opposed to the end portion 6b of a fuel decreasing side and a slider output portion 5a is opposed to the end portion 6c of a fuel increasing side. The metering rank 6a is sandwiched between the governor lever output portion 3a and the slider output portion 5a disposed on both sides thereof by a spring force and a governor force, whereby a governor lever 3 need not have a governor force input portion, which increases the sensitivity of the governor. Since the metering rank 6a does not backlash, it is correctly moved and hence the accuracy of the governor is improved.
