PURPOSE: To provide a governor device for engine which can arrange a governor gear and others at favourable positions by securing the length of a throttle return shaft even at a point where the internal surface of a crank case is a curved surface part.

CONSTITUTION: On the protruded part of a throttle return shaft 8 facing the external side part of a crank case 7, a movable regulation means 1 to regulate rotation of this throttle return shaft 8 and the moving territory of the throttle return shaft 8 in the axial line direction is provided. Accordingly, as a protruded part 2 is not required on the throttle return shaft 8 inside of the crank case, it is not required to provide a raised face even in the case when the internal surface of the crank case comes to be a curved surface. Consequently, the length of the throttle return shaft 8 is secured, and it is possible to arrange a governor gear and others at favourable positions inside of the crank case.
