Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare a graft copolymer compsn. excellent in thermal stability and impact resistance by compounding a specific graft copolymer with a polyorganosiloxane in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:99-20 pts.wt. polymerizable monomer mixture comprising 0.1-20wt.% polyfunctional monomer (e.g. triallyl isocyanurate), 50-99.9wt.% 1-13C alkyl acrylate, and 0-30wt.% other copolymerizable vinyl compd. (e.g. styrene) is emulsion-polymerized in the presence of 1-80 pts.wt. conjugated diene rubber (e.g. polybutadiene), the sum of the monomer mixture and the rubber being 100 pts.wt., to give a graft rubber polymer. In the presence of 40-99wt.% said graft rubber polymer, 1-60wt.% monomer component comprising 0-100wt.% alkyl acrylate, 0-100wt.% arom. vinyl compd. (e.g. styrene), 0-100wt.% alkyl methacrylate, and 0-40wt.% cyanide compd. (acrylonitrile) is polymerized to give a graft copolymer. 100 pts.wt. said graft copolymer is compounded with 0.1-10 pts.wt. polyorganosiloxane (e.g. dimethylpolysiloxane).
