Title:
GRAFT-PROCESSING OF FIBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06108362
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To carry out graft-processing in a short time at a high grafting ratio by grafting with a water-soluble vinyl monomer to a fiber in saturated steam atmosphere.

CONSTITUTION: A treating object such as knit cotton fabric is immersed in a mixed solution of (A) a radically polymerizable water-soluble vinyl monomer such as acrylamide, acrylic acid, hydroxyethyl acrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, methacrylamide, methacrylic acid or methyl methacrylate and (B) a polymerization initiator consisting of a cerium salt (e.g. cerium ammonium nitrate and cerium ammonium sulfate), a persulfate (e.g. ammonium persulfate and potassium persulfate), etc., until the fabric is thoroughly impregnated with the solution. After squeezing out the solution, the fabric is stored in a J-box, etc., and subjected to graft-polymerization in the saturated steam atmosphere.
