A grain holding capacity-detecting apparatus B is provided on the top of a storage chamber 3. A holding switch 40 is pushed to drive a holding means 1 to hold grains in the storage chamber 3. When a stopping switch 43 is pressed and the stoppage of the holding means 1 is detected, a drum 22 performs a winding-down operation until a weight 20 in an initial position is caused to abut against a grain surface P so that a weight fall detecting means 24 detects it. Thereafter, the drum performs a winding-up operation until the weight rises to the initial position so that a weight rise detecting means 30 detects it. The amount of grains in the storage chamber 3 is computed based on the detected result of the number of revolutions of the drum 22 that has wound down or wound up the weight 20.
