Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain fine crystal grains and to maintain a fine crystal-grain structure even after remelting or holding in a molten state for a long period of time.
SOLUTION: A grain refining agent is used for molten metal treatment to an aluminum-containing magnesium-alloy. This grain refining agent contains an organic compound in which a residue remains when heating a nonoxidizing- gas atmosphere up to a temperature at which the aluminum-containing magnesium-alloy melts. Moreover, the aluminum-containing magnesium-alloy for casting can be formed using the grain refiner.
