To provide a granular activated carbon having mechanical strength and abrasive resistance, having many narrow pores suitable for adsorbing an organic solvent, particularly a vaporized fuel gas, and also having a high filling density and to provide an industrially advantageous manufacturing method of the granular activated carbon.
The granular activated carbon wherein a specific surface area calculated by a BET method (multipoint method) in a nitrogen adsorption isotherm determined from a nitrogen adsorption amount at a liquid nitrogen temperature is 1,000-2,500 m2/g and also a half width of a D band peak in the vicinity of 1,360 cm-1 in a Raman spectral analysis is ≤120 cm-1 and a half width of a G band peak in the vicinity of 1,580 cm-1 is ≤100 cm-1 is provided, and its manufacturing method is provided.
