To provide a granular microbial sludge generation method which can generate granular microbial sludge more quickly.
In the granular microbial sludge generation method, a fundamental period comprising an inflow process S1 for making organic wastewater flow into an aeration tank 3 containing microbial sludge G1, a treatment process S2 for subjecting the organic wastewater to aerobic treatment by agitation in the aeration tank 3, a static process S3 for stopping aeration to precipitate solid matter containing the microbial sludge G1 in the aeration tank 3, and a discharge process S4 for discharging treated water W obtained by the aerobic treatment of the organic wastewater from the aeration tank 3 after the static process S3 is repeated more than once, a granulation promoting agent for promoting granulation of the microbial sludge G1 is fed into the aeration tank 3 during the treatment process S2 or static process S3.
