Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain pellets of high strength and high volume reduction ratio from radioactive waste etc. and prevent pollution by using a water resistant, thermally melting substance as a binder in pelletizing by compression.
CONSTITUTION: In pelletizing dry powder of radioactive waste etc. by compression, a water-resistant, thermally melting substance such as epoxy resin, polyvinyl acetate etc. which is solid before pelletizing by compression and changes to liquid with the rise of temperature of the powder at the time of pelletizing. By this way, strong pellets of large volume reduction can be obtained to prevent pollution of machinery and reduce exposure rate of workers.
