To provide a granule inspecting apparatus capable of properly inspecting the presence of a defect present in granules as various colors while simplifying the apparatus constitution to the utmost using a monochromatic light receiving part.
The reflected lights from the different places of the outer periphery of a granule illuminated by illumination means 4A, 4B illuminating a detection place where the presence of the granule is expected are separately received by a plurality of light receiving parts 5a1, 5a2 and the light receivable wavelength regions of the light receiving parts 5a1, 5a2 are made different by a band restricting means 101 to allow the brightness data corresponding to the sum total of the quantities of received light within the light receivable wavelength regions of the light receiving parts 5a1, 5a2 to correspond to different colors and, when either one of the brightness data separately outputted from the light receiving parts 5a1, 5a2 and corresponding to the different colors is out of a proper brightness range, the granule is judged to be defective.
