PURPOSE: To execute an adaptive processing related to an exact position and size by setting an idle area in a block from a size and a position of a character- string area and setting a new character-string area.

CONSTITUTION: Character frames 12, 13, etc., are placed in a character writable area 11, and thereafter, areas 14, 15 left in the character writable area 11 are used as character DRAW available areas. Therefore, the character DRAW available area at the time point when no character frame is written at all is equal to the character writable area. Accordingly, by leading in the character DRAW available areas 14, 15, etc., a function for adding a new character frame is realized without changing a position of an existing character-string. At the time of adding newly a character-string, a new character-string can be placed in a desired position by instructing the character DRAW available area by a pointing device, etc. In such a way, an adaptive processing related to an exact position and size can be executed.
