PURPOSE: To improve the correcting job efficiency by securing such a constitution where a graphic candidate deciding means decides the graphic type candidates in the order of higher possibilities in terms of the graphic types to a recognizing subject graphic and the decided candidates are displayed by a graphic display means.

CONSTITUTION: When no coincidence is obtained between the type of a displayed graphic and that of a recognizing subject graphic, a graphic candidate deciding means 10 decides automatically the candidates in the order of higher ranks for the type of the recognizing subject graphic based on the type of the graphic element detected by a graphic recognizing means 6 and the graphic definition data stored in a graphic defining means 5. These decided candidates are displayed bya display means 8. Thus it is not required to detect the code of a subject graphic for correction of the wrong graphic recognizing result. As a result, the correcting job efficiency is improved.
