Abstract:
PURPOSE:To shorten a processing time for shading in terms of the display of a three-dimensional object by storing a brightness corresponding to the material and inner product of a display object on a color lookup table after said brightness is calculated. CONSTITUTION:A graphic information-picture element conversion processor 4 obtains the normal N of each dot of each surface comprising an approximate polyhedron, and calculates inner products N.L and N.H. They are stored in frame buffers 51 and 52 together with the materials of the object to be displayed, that is, a material code identifying the values of reflecting coefficients Ka and Kd and Ks. According to information on the frame buffers 51 and 52, color lookup tables 61 and 62 are retrieved to obtain brightness information. After said information is converted into an analog signal by D/A converters 71-76, the brightness from the frame buffer 51 and that from the frame buffer 52 are added by adders 81-83, transmitted to a CRT 9 and displayed.
