To obtain a graphite material and to provide a method for manufacturing the material as a source material which can significantly improve the orientation of graphite in a graphite formed body.
In the manufacture of a graphite compound containing graphite and a resin by using a stirring and granulating machine equipped with stirring vanes which horizontally rotate in the bottom of a vertical cylindrical chamber, the source material containing graphite particles and a resin powder material is supplied to the chamber of the granulating machine. While the source material is stirred and mixed by rotating the stirring vanes at ≥15 m/sec circumferential speed at the top parts of the vanes, the source material is heated by the stirring heat to the temperature higher by ≥20°C than the starting point of melting of the resin to obtain a granulated material having ≤1.5 aspect ratio.
