PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graphite intercalation compound favorable in electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity by easy formation of PN joint while maintaining the chemical continuity of graphene.SOLUTION: A graphite intercalation compound 1 in this invention is a sheet-like compound comprising a graphene layer formed by lamination of plural sheets of graphene continuous in an in-plane direction, and an intercalation layer comprising an intercalation inserted between the graphenes. The compound includes a P-type GIC area 40 composed of a P-type intercalation layer portion receiving electrons from the graphene layer and a graphene layer located in a lamination direction of the P-type intercalation layer portion, and an N-type GIC area 50 composed of an N-type intercalation layer portion supplying electrons to the graphene layer and the graphene layer located in the lamination direction of the N-type intercalation layer portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
