Title:
GRAPHITE TYPE ELECTRODE ROD FOR ARC FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3546071
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a covering layer for prevention of electrode rod exhaustion due to oxidation, wherein the operating environmental problem due to the execution of works in the operating condition is solved, which is required to form non-conductive covering layer with avoidance of the electrode holder part, and also oxidative exhaustion of the applicable part is eliminated likely caused by execution of works in band form when a separate work takes place.
CONSTITUTION: Instead of a conventional non-conductive oxidation preventive layer, a material is used which is prepared by adding an appropriate amount of conductive filler consisting of metal powder, graphite powder, etc., to an admixture chiefly containing a powder-form glass frit and an inorganic binder, and thereby an oxidation resisting covering having an electric conductivity of no more than 102Ω.cm is yielded. This eliminates oxidation of the outside surface of a graphite type electrode rod to permit the electrode to undergo only tip exhaustion generated by arcs, and as a result the exhaustion of carbon electrode is reduced to a great extent.
