Title:
GRAVITY-DRIVEN MICROPUMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005313141
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a microfluid chip having an incorporated gravity-driven micropump.

The microfluid chip has the incorporated gravity-driven micropump, the micropump is provided with a curved channel, inactive fluid material placed in the curved channel and a suction channel for connecting the suction channel connected to the curved channel to the microfluid chip. Therein, the inactive fluid material is introduced into the curved channel. A fixed amount of the high gravity inactive material is placed in the curved channel and is actuated as the micropump in a biochip. When the microfluid chip is arranged in an oblique or erect position, the inactive fluid material flows down through the curved channel according to gravitation. The microfluid chip provides a convenient and strong microfluid force-feeding source. The microfluid chip is non-pollutive because of the incorporated micropump and the cost of a pipe connecting a bio-chip and peripheral equipment may be saved.
