To provide a gravure printing press which can converge a register deviation in printing by respective printing units to a stationary state at an early stage, and to provide a method for controlling the same.
The gravure printing press is provided with: a prestage printing unit 10a first performing printing to a web W; and poststage printing units 10b, 10c, 10d provided at the downstream side of the prestage printing unit 10a. The poststage printing units 10b, 10c, 10d include: register mark sensors 15b, 15c, 15d detecting register marks on the web W; and tension detectors 18b, 18c, 18d detecting the tension between the printing units, respectively. Further, the gravure printing press has a controller 30. The controller 30 calculates the correction value of the controlled variables of the motors 13b, 13c, 13d with the lapse of time based on the size of a register deviation and the deviation in the tension of the web W between prescribed times.
