To provide a greening device growing plants only by natural precipitation even without a special water sprinkling equipment, forming a full-scale garden on a rooftop of a building, reducing heavy load to a building to the utmost, and free from fear of water leakage.
A planting container 401 is composed of a perforated cover body 402, and a water storage container 403 which is set with an incision 408 for overflow on a side wall and a perpendicular groove 406 connected to the incision, and vertically and horizontally forms a raised bottom 403b for draining on the bottom. The planting container has an inner wall 407 which projects from the inside of the water storage container 403, abuts on the perforated cover body 402 and sets a flow opening. A soil layer 412 to be laid on the perforated cover body 402 is wood-base lightweight soil which is for adsorbing water transported by evaporation from water stored in the water storage container or by humidity difference, and has charcoal and decayed wood chips as the main material. The soil layer has large water retaining power to lessen evaporation of water to the atmosphere. Charcoal 411 adsorbs water in lower half container atmosphere and supplies to plants. The planting container 401 stores an amount of water necessary to grow plants.
