PURPOSE: To permit the exchange of a grinding belt without interrupting a rolling operation by winding the grinding belt on reels in an upper box part and lower box part, handling the same as a cartridge and attaching and detaching the cartridge by means of a prescribed push and pull cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: The grinding belt 35 is wound on the reels 32 in the upper box part 51 and the lower box part 52 and is handled as the cartridge 31. The cartridge is housed in a cartridge case 29 provided to a traversing frame 7. An advance and retreat cylinder 20 is projected in this state to draw the belt 35 out of the reel 32. A prescribed grinding pressure is exerted to the belt by a push cylinder 19. The traverse 7 is moved left and the cartridge is pushed into the case 29 by the push and pull cylinder in a belt exchanger 22 at the time of loading the cartridge 31. The cartridge is removed from a mandrel 30 by the push and pull cylinder in the stage of taking out the cartridge. The belt is thus exchanged without interrupting the rolling operation.
