Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of distortion in the ground surface of a workpiece by the influence of frictional heat between a grinding wheel and the workpiece.
CONSTITUTION: A workpiece W is ground by successively repeating three processes, that is, a cutting edge process of making a grinding wheel 7 cuts in by the specified quantity from the reference face w1, where the workpiece W and the grinding wheel 7 comes in contact with each other, so as to grind the workpiece W, a grinding wheel separating process of separating the grinding wheel 7 once after the end of the cutting edge process and making the grinding wheel stand by above the workpiece W, and a feed process of moving a table 3 in a direction Y after the end of the grinding wheel separating process. This can prevent a rotary shaft 6 from bending by the upward escape of the grinding wheel 7 due to the thermal expansion of the workpiece W, that is, the bending of the rotary shaft 6 can be prevented by separating the grinding wheel before the workpiece W is expanded by frictional heat.
