PURPOSE: To successively grind a compound surface constituted of a plurality of different surfaces or to grind a continuous curved surface by a single grinding device by providing a position adjusting mechanism whereby a peripheral surface grinding wheel is relatively linearly moved in approaching and separating directions, respectively associated with rotation by a rotating mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: Peripheral work is performed by moving a grinding wheel 30 to approach and separate by a position adjusting mechanism 28 with rotation in a vertical surface of a workpiece with a supporting shaft 27 serving as the center. Or the rounding work of side surface is performed by moving the grinding wheel 30 to approach and separate while rotating the workpiece in a horizontal surface by a rotating mechanism 26. The rounding work of peripheral and side surface is performed in the case of continuously rotating the supporting shaft 27 and rotating mechanism 26. In the case of performing the rotation interruptedly, chamfering work is performed.
