Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold the horizontality of a work without disturbance of air by using an air pad comprising an air spouting port to spout air to the lower surface of the work and a ring-shaped groove provided around the air spouting port and releasing a part of the inside of the groove to atmospheric air.
SOLUTION: An area other than a portion to come into contact with a grinding acting surface of a lower grinding wheel of a work 22 holds a state where the work 22 is floated by four air pads 28 arranged around the center of the work 22 at a working position. When the grinding is started, coolant supplied to both of upper and lower grinding wheels is led into an interval between the air pad 28 and the work 22 as mist in association with grinding. The air spouted from an air spouting hole 30 is released into the atmospheric air through a groove 31, an air vent hole 32, and an air vent pipe 34. Accordingly, no disturbance of air is almost generated at the lower surface of the work 22, so that the work 22 is held to a horizontal state without being vibrated.
